Malibu Boats was founded in 1982 by President/CEO Robert Alkema. Malibu Boats is a recreational and competition ski boat manufacturer, specializing in inboard boats. Its corporate headquarters are located in Merced, California, USA. They have manufacturing plants in California, Tennessee and Albury, Australia. Malibu Boats is the first and only ski boat manufacturer to own and operate multiple manufacturing facilities. Their Mission Statement is "Build the best boat possible. Enjoy your workplace. Give our owners the best value".
Malibu started out in a small shop and built 100 custom Malibu ski boats. In 1995 Malibu became the second largest manufacturer of ski boats worldwide, thus making Malibu Ski Boats synonymous with quailty. In 1997 General Motors enlisted Malibu to build the Corvette Limited Edition Ski Boat, an engineering marvel that set new standards in ski boat design. By 2001, Malibu boats was at the top of the world in both awards and boat sales enlisting new production techniques and establishing new standards in customer service that has propelled them to where they are today, the new standard in the water sports industry. They won more Product Excellence Awards from the industry than all other competitors combined. They received 13 Boat of the Year Awards and today they are the number one manufacturer of water sports boats. Malibu Boats has an extremely dedicated base of owners.
